Barons Best ’Sters 2-1 in Season Finale

By Jalen Kang

The Foresters dropped their final regular season game of the summer, falling to the MLB Academy Barons 2-1 at Eddie Mathews Field on Sunday afternoon.

After a sluggish eight innings of offense, the trailing ’Sters made a late push in the ninth. Trailing 2-0 while down to their last out, Jonah Sebring worked a walk to keep the game alive. Jack Holman drove him in with an RBI double that clanged off the top of the center field fence, plating the ’Sters’ first runs to make it 2-1. But the ’Sters couldn’t muster any more late-game magic, as the ballgame ended with the tying run on second.

Starter Frank Camarillo did his part on the bump, tossing 5.0 shutout innings while fanning 7 batters. He finishes the season with a 0.69 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 26.0 innings.

The ’Sters will have to shake off some late frost before heading to Wichita for the NBC World Series. After winning eight of nine heading into the CCL All-Star break, the ’Sters dropped three of their last four games of the season. Alas, Manager Bill Pintard and the squad will look to add one more trophy to the ’Sters’ 10 NBC Championships.

The first game of the tournament will take place on Friday, July 26. For updates on the upcoming playoff action, follow us on Instagram (@forestersSB), Twitter (SBForesters), and our website sbforesters.org. ’Ster it up!
