Peyton Tolle had his second straight very solid outing, leading the way on the mound, while Gavin Kash’s two-run homer and Nate Rombach’s late solo shot paced the Foresters offense. It all added up to a 7-3 victory over the Arroyo Seco Saints Wednesday night in Pasadena. The Foresters clearly used their two days off to rest up and kick off a busy six-game stretch of key CCL games.

Tolle struck out four and allowed only two runs in his five innings of work. Jake Faherty hit 97 on the gun to back him up, while Nick Griffin continued his stellar summer with two perfect innings and 4 Ks to close out the win.

The Foresters offense backed Tolle with five runs through five. Tanner O’Tremba doubled leading off the second and scored on Nate Rombach’s two-bagger. Later in the inning, Gianni Horvat brought home Rombach with a groundout. Kash’s third-inning two-run shot (he leads the team with five on the summer) doubled the Santa Barbara lead.

The scoring team of Rombach and Horvat did it again in the fourth. Rombach walked and shocked the stadium by stealing second. After moving to third on an out, he scored on Horvat’s solid single to center.

Santa Barbara ran into a run in the seventh. Miguel Santos and Kevin Bazzell singled, then pulled off a successful double steal. The attempt to get Santos flew into left field to allow him to score. Rombach closed out the scoring in the eighth with a bomb, and Griffin shut the door.

The Foresters start a three-game homestead Thursday against these same Saints. First pitch at 6 pm at Pershing Park (the second-to-last weekend of the summer at home!). If you can’t make it, listen on AM 1290 and FM 96.9.
