By Jim Buckley (photos by Kylie Koeper): The post-All-Star break hits keep coming—and so did terrific pitching—as the Foresters romped to a fourth straight victory, 6-3 over the Academy Barons on Sunday. Ben Abram continued his outstanding work on the mound, throwing seven innings of one-run ball, one of the longest and best outings by a ’Sters pitcher this summer.
Early solo homers by Dylan Campbell and Kendall Pettis (a former Barons player) highlighted the 10-hit attack. Nate Rombach also had a two-run single to put the Foresters up 4-0 in the fifth. Jashia Morissey drove in a pair in the seventh for the final total.
The Barons scratched back a run in the seventh to break up Abram’s shutout bid, and two more in the ninth before Steven Zobac slammed the door.
After a day off Monday, the Foresters play a pair of road games: Tuesday at Conejo at 4:30 and Wednesday at San Luis at 6 pm. Tune in to the games on AM 1290.
