Clutch Hitting Opens the Door to a 9-1 Win

Once again, the Foresters came through with clutch hitting, turning a tight ballgame into a second straight convincing victory over the PUF Capitalists Sunday, on Frontier Communications Day, 9-1. Miles Sandum allowed only one run through six innings for Santa Barbara, but it was not until the bottom of the sixth that the Foresters tied the score on a Kyle Isbel sacrifice fly that scored Evan Cassalotto, who had tripled to open the inning, one of his two hits on the day.

The ’Sters broke the game open in the seventh. Trevor Abrams delivered a two-strike groundout that scored Dylan Paul with the go-ahead run. Matt Henderson later delivered  a two-out single that scored two runs. Then Bret Boswell cleared the bases with a long double to deep left field. Tyler Adkison provided the capper with his second homer in two games, a two-run shot to left that provided the final runs. That’s seven RBI with two outs in the inning…Bill Pintard could not have drawn it up any better!

After Sandum’s excellent start, Ryan Shetter earned the win with three innings of shutout relief. He added a trio of strikeouts to Sandum’s 7 to send 10 Capitalists back to the bench.

The Foresters enjoy a few days off until their next game, Thursday at 5 pm at UCSB vs. the Valley Bears. However, fans are encouraged to watch seven Foresters take part in the CCL All-Star Game.    That game can be seen live this Wednesday at 7 pm on Fox Sports West. —J.B.
