The annual Foresters Hall of Fame dinner was another grand slam! Last Friday, hundreds of fans, friends, and family gathered to honor Andre Miller and Ryan Church, the two newest members of the Hall of Fame. Joined by our friends from UCSB Baseball, the gathering heard from the honorees as well as from special guest Ron Roenicke, manager of the Milwaukee Brewers and father of Gaucho/Forester Lance Roenicke. Former Foresters Dylan Axelrod and Chuck Fick also provided an entertaining look inside the life of a Major League player.
The evening began with a bustling social hour and a wonderful spread of food provided by our great local vendors (see list below). Many thanks to all for their hard work and terrific and tasty food and wine! Kids buzzed around searching out stars to sign their baseballs, while everyone perused a great selection of sports memorabilia in the silent auction. All proceeds from the event go to support Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, home of the Gauchos and Foresters.
After dinner, emcee Dave Pintard introduced UCSB manager Andrew Checketts and Foresters manager Bill Pintard, who in turn welcomed dozens of special guests. Bill also introduced Andre and Ryan, who gave great speeches of thanks for their HOF honor. After Ron Roenicke passed along his thoughts and ideas on success in baseball and in life, the conversation about life in the bigs had everyone both laughing and dreaming.
