After the ‘Sters advanced to the Semi-Finals of the 2014 NBC World Series, Manager Bill Pintard was ready to have his usual post game talk with the team. He had no idea that this was no usual occasion.
Within a few minutes the gig was up, and the celebration ensued.
Bill Pintard was inducted into the NBC World Series Hall of Fame, Class of 2014.
With four NBC World Championships under his belt with the Foresters, along with appearances in the tournament each year since 1995, Pintard is a legend in Wichita.
That wasn’t the only reason for his induction however. The NBC also cited the Pintard’s dedication to the Hugs for Cubs foundation, which has become as indistinguishable with the Foresters organization as baseball itself.
Despite not having a clue about the induction until moments before the presentation occurred, Bill gave a passionate speech that seemed too good to not have been written and revised numerous times before. He spoke about his love for his family, the players, everybody in the ‘Sters family, the Hugs for Cubs, and the city of Wichita.
Bill also gave special thanks to his mother, who passed while the Foresters were on their way to Wichita. He thanked her for giving him the love and joy that he has in his heart, as well as teaching him compassion and the importance of caring for others.
Pintard and the Foresters look to add to his legacy tonight, as they take on the National Junior College All-America Team in the NBC World Series Semi-Finals. Start time is 6:00 pm in Wichita, 4:00 pm PT.
