(2012 team pictured; 2014 pic to come soon!) As we hope you’ve all heard by now, your Santa Barbara Foresters captured their fifth NBC World Series National Championship on Saturday. In a 12-inning thriller, the ‘Sters beat the Seattle Studs, 3-2. A heartstopping play in the bottom of the tenth—Jaylin Davis to A.J. Kennedy to cut down a potential title-winning run—led to a super-clutch double in the 12th by Granger Studdard for the go-ahead run. Troy Cruz nailed down the win as the last of four outstanding pitchers on the night. Jon Duplantier was named the NBC World Series MVP along with Top Major League Prospect, while Davis won the Home Run Hitter Award. Newly-minted Hall of Famer Bill Pintard was named the Manager of the Year at the tournament.
Bill and members of the team are traveling back to Santa Barbara. A more complete report will be posted very soon, so check back here for more photos, stories, and quotes.
The entire Foresters organization congratulates the team and the coaching staff on a fantastic season and their ultimate victory. Thanks also to all the fans, sponsors, advertisers, volunteers, and community members that make this truly a victory to share with everyone.
More to come soon!
