The Foresters bats continued to impress as critical hits by both Johnny Rodriguez and Dee Kennedy throughout the match helped to enable the ‘Sters to escape an early road game with a 7-2-win Sunday afternoon in Compton.
Despite the Barons taking an early lead, the Foresters one-two punch of Rodriguez and Kennedy proved too much for their CCL opponent with both infielders having monster days at the plate. Rodriguez connected with the ball all day long going 2-4 with a 4th inning double and 4-RBIs on the day. Kennedy mirrored Rodriguez’s performance with 3 hits and 3 RBIs of his own but added some spice to the scorecard with a solo HR to left in the top of the 8th.
“Johnny came up right away to get us on the board early, and then Dee had 2 2-out knocks..” said head coach Bill Pintard following the win. “…Johhny and Dee were the hitting stars today. No question”.
The pitching combination of Jackson Cloud, Garrett Stratton, and Max Fraser was key to the ‘Sters late-afternoon success as well, with the staff collectively only allowing 2 runs to score whilst also striking out 8 and only conceding a single hit through 9.
The Foresters hope to continue this hot-streak in their first game of a 4-game June homestand at Eddie Mathews Field Tuesday evening. First Pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
