For the first time this season, an opponent was able to push across a score against the Foresters. While the pitching staff continued its dominant start to the 2024 campaign by racking up 14 K’s, the offense was silenced by the San Luis Obispo Blues as the ‘Sters fell 2-0 at Eddie Mathews Field on Tuesday evening.
Despite taking the loss, starting pitcher Victor Arreola had his fastball-slider combination working in his outing, as he punched out seven Blues across 4.0 innings of work while allowing just one run.
Shea Wendt was first out of the bullpen and pitched a scoreless fifth and sixth inning while striking out three. Diego Ramos and Jake Fields combined to take care of the last third of the game and both struck out two batters. The ‘Sters arms have struck out 41 batters across their first three games while allowing just two runs, both coming from today’s contest.
In the bottom of the ninth, Nik Sanders doubled and Will Rogers singled to bring the tying run to the plate, but a 4-6-3 double play shut down the potential rally as the ‘Sters were handed their first loss of the season.
The ‘Sters look to bounce back on the road tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12 against the Conejo Oaks. Catch the ‘Sters from anywhere by visiting our YouTube Channel, https://www.youtube.com/@SantaBarbaraForesters19.
