July 9: Foresters v. Crawdads Box Score

The Walnut Creek Crawdads gave the Foresters a run for their money but, for the second night in a row, weren’t able to beat Santa Barbara, the final score 3-2. The Sters were able to escape a 2-2 tie in the 5th and held the lead until the end.

Hunter Ensley, hot off the last few games, didn’t waste any time putting the Sters up with a blasted solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd. The third saw the same action, as Sebastian Orduna, new to the Sters lineup crossed home, widening the lead to 2-0. After hitting a single, and an error by the third baseman, Orduno and Gianni Horvat ended up on second and first base. Orduno stole third and Rylan Charles batted him in with a double.

The top of the fouth saw the Crawdads explode back into the game, as the Sters faced a bases loaded situation. After an unusual error by Kevin Bazzell, the Crawdad Ryan Brome and Matt King advanced home to tie the game at 2-2.

Santa Barbara got to work in the 5th, as they didn’t let the tie last for long. Orduno advanced to first on a fielder’s choice, jogged to second after a wild pitch and following a flyout from Horvat, made it to third. Miguel Santos, a standout on the Foresters team, came to the plate and batted in Orduno for the second time on the night with w double, pushing the Sters ahead 3-2.

The Crawdads stayed quiet the rest of the night, getting shut down by Sters smart pitching. The Foresters look to continue their two-game win streak tomorrow afternoon at home against Lincoln Potters. Head to Pershing at 2 PM or tune in to AM 1290 and KZSB FM 96.9.
