The Santa Barbara Foresters ended their weekend home opener with an 18-1 win against the Philippines National Team, improving their record to 6-1. Foresters starting pitcher Frank Camarillo threw four scoreless innings, keeping the ball on the ground and letting the defense do their job. Camarillo gave up only three hits, struck out three, and walked none. The Foresters offense, meanwhile, took advantage of wild opposing pitching, enjoying 14 walks and 3 hit batters, along with a pair of Filipinos errors. Sawyer Farr’s four RBI and Brady Dallimore’s three led the way.

With an explosive first inning, the Foresters got things started early, running through the whole batting order, scoring four times. The key hit was a two-RBI single by catcher Cole Chamberlain.

In the second, after Caleb Hoover drove in one run and Farr another on a bases-loaded walk, Dallimore had the big blow, a two-run single. Farr later came around to score on an error and it was 9-0 after just two innings.

In the sixth, the ’Sters did one better, racking up six runs. Farr got his second RBI on a walk, plating Liam Keithley, who had led off this busy inning with a single. A wild Philippines pitcher Dylan Adams loaded the bases again and two more runs scored on a wild pitch and sac fly by Easton Rulli. Maddox Mandino later had the game’s only extra-base hit, a double, to score Dallimore. After Addison Klepsch scored on a Terrence Kiel fielder’s choice, the inning finally ended with Mandino out in a rundown.

Santa Barbara loaded them up again in the sixth. Farr continued his successful day with an RBI single. The ’Sters added a pair on a run during a double play and a wild pitch to wrap up their scoring. On the day, they had innings in which they scored 3, 4, 5, and 6 runs!

The Philippines scored their sole run in the 7th inning on an RBI single to center field by Jaynin Baxta, scoring Mason Pheng from second. Despite that brief hiccup, the ’Sters second pitcher Kaimi Kahalekai limited the damage, finishing his three-inning outing giving up four hits and that lone earned run.

Easton Tumis relieved Kahalekai to start the 8th. He pitched the final two innings, striking out three batters and giving up no runs.

The Foresters are on the road versus Orange County Riptides on Tuesday June 17th at 7pm. The team returns to Eddie Mathews Field for a five-game homestand starting Wednesday June 18.
