’Sters Shine Bright, Eclipse Sun Rays for Fourth Straight Victory

By Jalen Kang

Four in a row! The Foresters outshined the San Diego Sun Rays at Eddie Mathews Field on Saturday evening, dominating at the plate and on the mound in a 5-1 victory.

Mason Bixby (W) and Max Fraser both turned in stellar performances on the mound. The duo combined for 12 strikeouts across 8.0 innings of work while allowing just 1 run.

The ’Sters (12-5, 11-5 CCL) jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the opening frame.

After Kaden Peterson worked a walk, Jack Holman smoked a double for his 12th RBI, tied for the team-high. Holman continued his hot summer, finishing 3-3 with a walk to improve his .556 on-base percentage.

“My approach is dialed in, it’s what I’m trying to do at the plate; get some pitches to drive and take advantage of it. Using the whole field is important for me against a right-hander. I think once you show that you can use the whole field it opens up a lot more opportunities,” Holman said.

The ’Sters used a two-out rally to add on in the third. Sparked by back-to-back singles by Peterson and Holman, Will Rogers delivered a two-RBI single to extend their lead to 3-0.

Dylan Fishbough entered the game in the sixth inning and joined in on the fun. Jesse Di Maggio and Tayman both reached to set the table, and Fishbough tallied his first RBIs of the summer with a two-run double.

Jake Fields capped off a dominant day from the ’Sters’ pitching staff, taking care of the final three outs in the ninth to put the cherry on top of a great weekend of ’Sters baseball.
