They almost didn’t need the lights! In a crisply-played ballgame that took just over two hours, the Foresters earned their 18th win, 3-1 over the Santa Maria Pea Soup. The Foresters pitchers doled out hits like candy at a dentist; starter Kyle Luckham and three relievers allowed only four while striking out seven.

The Foresters gave the pitchers all the help they needed in the seventh, when they scored all their runs. A sac fly by C Noah Cardenas followed singles by Peyton Graham and Branden Boissiere for the first run. Sean McLain then singled to score Boissiere and Bryce Warrecker then drove him in with a long single of his own. It was one of those games where everyone chipped in, however, as every Sters player except one had at least one hit.

The Pea Soup scratched back in the ninth to score their only run, but newcomer Nick Proctor ended the threat with two aboard. The game ended on a great play when RF Ryan Holgate threw out a Pea Soup runner at third.

The Foresters welcome the SoCal Giants to Pershing Park for the first time this summer. First pitch is at 6 pm on KCSB.org/sports.
